1. What inspired you to create the “Othermatter” project, and how did it lead to your success at the C2A Awards?

Hyunji Jun: The ethical concerns of traditional fashion production motivated me to explore sustainable alternatives. “Othermatter” is a result of my passion for sustainable design and my background in both fashion and graphic design. Winning the C2A Award has validated my efforts and encouraged me to continue pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion.

2. How has the recognition at the C2A Awards influenced your perspective on your creative journey and future endeavors?

Hyunji Jun: The C2A recognition has inspired me to set higher goals and pursue more ambitious projects. It has fueled my passion for creativity and encouraged me to experiment with new design concepts.

3. Can you describe your creative process and what fuels your imagination?

Hyunji Jun: My design process starts with understanding a brand’s core vision and how it connects with society. I use mood boards and various design directions to visually communicate these elements. Feedback from others and random inspirations, even from my dreams, often spark my creativity.

4.What challenges have you faced in your creative career, and how have you overcome them?

Hyunji Jun: Self-doubt has been a significant challenge. I’ve learned to view critical feedback as a tool for improvement and to persist through obstacles, which has helped me grow as a designer.

5. In what ways do you anticipate the award impacting your credibility and reputation in the creative industry, and how do you envision leveraging this recognition as you move forward?

Hyunji Jun: The C2A award enhances my professional credibility and showcases my expertise. It makes clients and collaborators more confident in my abilities, opening new opportunities for collaboration and growth.

6. Staying current is an ongoing challenge. How do you currently keep abreast of new industry trends, and are there any emerging trends you’re excited to incorporate into your work?

Hyunji Jun: I stay updated with new design tools and technologies, such as AI and Figma plug-ins, which expand my design capabilities. I’m excited about the potential of these innovations to transform the design process.

7. Zooming in on your recent triumph, what inspired the winning project you submitted to the C2A Awards?

Hyunji Jun: My background in fashion and the ethical concerns I had about its environmental impact inspired “Othermatter.” Meeting people who use biomaterials in fashion showed me how to address these concerns creatively and sustainably.
